Speaking for nominators from around the world, Dr. Laura A. McCammon (University of Arizona) wrote:

“For over 40 years, Larry has made significant contributions to drama/theatre teaching and learning and teacher education; the promotion of arts education research; and the development of international arts education awareness and advocacy.”

Writing in support of the nomination, Dr. Debra McLaughlin (Brock University) said of his international leadership:

“I believe one of Larry’s greatest strengths to be his ability to bring people of various backgrounds and nationalities together for a common goal or purpose . . . Larry has collaborated on large-scale research projects with participants from various continents.  He has presented papers and worked arduously on policy documents with partners from across the globe.  As a speaker, he has addressed audiences and won esteemed recognition around the world.  As an advocate for the arts in education on an international scale, I believe Larry to be in a class of his own.”
