Welcome to the Queen's University Faculty of Education Knowledge Forum Launchpad.
Knowledge Forum is a discourse database management system designed to support collaborative knowledge building. It is being used at Queen's Faculty of Education in a variety of ways to support our programs, research, and development.
Knowledge Forum is based on more than 20 years of research and development in classrooms and other settings, including teacher-education programs. For more information about this work, please see the website of the Institute for Knowledge Innovation and Technology (IKIT), a group centred at OISE and led by Carl Bereiter and Marlene Scardamalia.
Knowledge Forum is developed and sold by Learning in Motion and has its own Web site www.knowledgeforum.com. The Faculty of Education has a Group Site License that allows use in all work of the Faculty. Version 4.8β of the software is entirely Web-based, permits self-registration, and supports Quicktime video attachments, and, in conjunction with a streaming video server, video annotation. The software also includes an "Analytical Tool Kit" to provide visual display of detailed information on participation. The software evolution is tightly coupled with intensive, ongoing research and development in a wide variety of settings in several countries.
