Applications for admission to graduate programs are completed and submitted online. The School of Graduate Studies website provides the online form (which is the same for all programs) and step-by-step instructions for setting up your account.
Please note that referees are notified that you want them to provide a reference for you by email after you have submitted your online application, so please submit your application at least two weeks before the application deadline. Please also be sure to include the correct email addresses of your referees on your online application.
In addition to the online application, you are required to submit additional documentation (paper versions) to the Faculty of Education Graduate Studies and Research Office.
NOTE: Applicants can list more than the minimum two required referees. In this case, however, the application will not be deemed completed and will not be reviewed by the admissions committee until all listed references are received (not only the minimum required).
NOTE: Online application form by default includes three spaces for referee contact information. Applicants to the M.Ed. (AWIES) program must add additional space for the forth required reference by clicking the "add referee" button.
Professional references (from employers) in lieu of academic ones are accepted only if it has been more than 5 years since you completed your last university degree.
International applicants should not submit an application for admission to the M.Ed. or Ph.D in Education program if they are currently working on an undergraduate or master's degree at the time of application. This recommendation is being made because of time restraints with respect to applying for and obtaining a student VISA in time to arrive on campus in September.
As part of the application process, applicants who are non-native speakers of English are required to obtain a minimum score of 580 (paper-based)/237 (computer-based)/92 Internet-based) or higher on the TOEFL test to be eligible for admission to graduate programs in the Faculty of Education. To be competitive applicants should also achieve a minimum of 4.5 on the Test of Written English (TWE).
Applicants who take the IELTS must achieve a minimum of Band 7 or higher to be eligible for admission.
Additional information on language proficiency tests is available on the School of Graduate Studies website.
If you are interested in taking a graduate course without registering for a program, you can apply for Special Student Admission. For additional information, see: Graduate Studies Calendar: Special Student Admission

To receive permission to take a graduate course as a Special Student, application must be made to and reviewed by the Faculty of Education and then approved by the School of Graduate Studies. Please contact the Graduate Studies and Research Office to request an application form.
In addition to the application form, you are required to provide the application fee and additional documentation (paper versions) to the Graduate Studies and Research Office:
