Queen's University's Faculty of Education strives to contribute substantively and professionally, through teaching, research, and service to the development of knowledgeable, competent, and caring educators who are responsive to the needs of their students and help to shape contemporary society.
Vision and Goals
The Faculty of Education prepares professionals for leadership in a wide variety of educational careers. The Faculty of Education is, and will continue to be, committed to developing leading-edge research programs that inform all its activities. The Faculty of Education aspires to play a leading role in educational matters at Queen's University, offering constructive and critical perspectives.
Respected for the important role it plays in Ontario, the Faculty of Education is also a leader in Canadian and international education and an active participant in the world education community. The Faculty of Education plans to explore many new avenues to advance this role.
The Faculty of Education's ongoing commitment to the profession of education is represented in all its activities and more specifically in:
- offering constructive and critical perspectives on educational matters at Queen's and elsewhere
- providing excellence in teaching and research, and attracting outstanding students
- supporting and recreating teaching and learning through research and the use of information technology
- promoting and nourishing partnerships with fellow professionals with faculty in other Queen's faculties, in schools and other education institutions
- providing a global perspective and fostering inclusivity
- contributing to the development of Aboriginal teacher education in Canada
